AI Can Generate Limitless Answers. What You Do With Them is More Crucial
Most of us know that AI can make learning easier and faster. Today, we can simply ask AI a question and get an answer in mere seconds (or minutes for more complex ones) and you have to keep yourself abreast of new and evolving AI applications and tools which can overwhelm us at times. We can also use AI to explain somewhat difficult topics, summarise information or help us understand something we are clueless about and no knowledge of in the first place.
But then again, getting an answer is not the same as knowing what to do with it and whether the answers generated are accurate, legit or ‘foolproof’.
As an IMBM student, you will need to further build and develop your own knowledge and skills from the lessons you have attended and from the discussions, tutorials you have participated and dive into, and examinations you have sat for. In the real working world, we cannot simply depend on AI to make every decision for us. We need to understand the basics, ask the right questions, check whether the information is correct and think about how it applies to a real situation.
For someone starting out, this is important. The maritime and business industries are changing quickly, and employers will expect more than just a certificate. They will want people who can learn constantly, adapt, communicate effectively, solve problems, be a contributor, value add to the organisation and make good and better decisions.
So, we see AI as a complementary tool—not a shortcut.
In a nutshell while AI can give us the ‘model answers’ and some form of perspectives, it cannot replace our unique learning process, the courses we took, our education, our hard earned credentials, our learning and thought process, and real world experience be it full time or part time work to name a few.
